Artmossphere Biennale: IV Street Art Forum in collaboration with the Street Art Research Institute

The IV Street Art Forum, the theme of which this year was public art, was created by the joint efforts of the Street Art Research Institute, Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art, and Bureau Nov as part of the IV Street Art Biennale "Artmossphere".

Over two days - July 7 and 8 - reports were presented in five sections of the Forum:
- "Legal regulation for art objects in public space",
- "What can the regions teach the capital? Public art in Russian cities";
- "Forms of art on the streets: public art, monument, sculpture, object";
- "The social function of public art";
- "The public art market".

Among the speakers were artists Dmitry Aske and Misha Most, collector Andrei Malakhov, chief architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov, head of the Artmossphere biennale Sabina Chagina and others.

The discussion sessions were devoted to the topics of "Art outside the law: how to draw on the street and not be afraid", "Public art as a marketing tool for cities", "Public art market in Russia: do we have public art?" and "Public art: how to sell XXL art".

The discussion participants were the director of the Street Art Research Institute Anna Nistratova, artist and curator Nikita Dusto, art director of the Ruarts foundation and gallery Katrin Borisov, director of the Nov bureau Polina Yozh, co-founder of the Sparta cultural initiatives fund Liza Savina and others.

The IV Street Art Forum was dedicated to the current agenda in the field of public art, various forms of art in the urban space and familiarization with the problems of the industry. According to the organizers, the goals of this Forum were to raise the most difficult issues in the field of public art, to create a platform for dialogue between specialists from different fields for a comprehensive discussion of existing problems and form methodological recommendations for specialized government agencies and institutions based on the results of the Forum.

The Street Art Forum were held for the fourth time; in 2023, it is part of the program of the IV Street Art Biennale Artmossphere, implemented by the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art.

The Forum result was the creation of a Methodological Collection of Recommendations for City Structures on the Integration of Street Art into Public Spaces. Based on extensive practical experience, experts formulated the main problems characteristic of street art in Russia and proposed the most effective ways to implement public art projects.
